Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Teec Nos Pos (pronounced "teesh nos pahs") is the name of a trading post in the northeast corner of Arizona. Founded early in the twentieth century, it became one of the major centers from which Navajo rug designs were disseminated. Teec Nos Pos rugs are known for their complex geometric patterns, said to be influenced by Plains Indian designs and by Oriental rugs.

This useful catalog of an outstanding private collection of Teec Nos Pos textiles that has been exhibited at Arizona State University includes a history of the trading post with extensive information from the traders themselves about weavers and markets. The introduction by Andrew Nagen, a well-known textile dealer and curator, speculates on the origins of Teec Nos Pos designs and the psychology of the weavers.
