Book Description
The design of private houses is undoubtably a major chapter in this century's architectural history. Within the last hundred years, the emergence of new materials and methods has led to bold architectural projects, and has helped solve the problems related to energy conservation and the environment.Twentieth Century Houses presents a sweeping view of the residential work of the greatest European architects--Le Corbusier, van der Rohe, Malaparte, Gaudi, Guimard, Herzog, and Koolhas among them. Lavishly illustrated with photographs, drawings and plans, the book traces the development of domestic architecture over the course of the century.
