Southeast Asia and Oceania are global epicenters of economic growth, and Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines in particular have each enjoyed building booms that include modern houses designed by some of the world's most talented architects. And though these countries feature rich variations in culture, language, and in some cases climate, their contemporary residential architectures share many similar characteristics. About the Author
Raul A. Barreneche has worked at Architecture magazine as executive editor and is the author of Rizzoli's Tropical Modern and co-author of Universe's House: American Houses for a New Century. He is a contributing editor to Metropolitan Home, Architectural Record, and Travel + Leisure and also has written for House Beautiful, Dwell, Interior Design, and the New York Times.
