How to Raise a Successful Athlete
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Geometry tells us there are three sides to every coin. There is heads, tails, and the rim around the coin. This book takes that approach to the success of an athlete. It looks at the parent (i.e. one side of the coin), the athlete (i.e. the other side of the coin), and then all that surrounds them (e.g. coaches, nutrition, training, medical care, and much more). All that surrounds the parent and athlete directly affects the success of the athlete. When you know this, your ability to succeed can increase exponentially. The most unique feature of this book is the general content. Seldom before has a book attempted to cover scientifically and theoretically just about every aspect of sports. There are many interesting examples and cases that help explain the scientific and theoretical concepts. This book contains a discussion of every major aspect that affects an athlete’s performance. In addition, the information in this book is designed to benefit athletes at many different ages. The parent and coach will learn that what happens outside of practice such as home life and nutrition can affect an athlete’s performance. In a very unique fashion, this book defines the major components of talent. You will learn what causes athletic injuries, how to reduce the chance of injury, and promote safety among sports. This book also teaches you how to interact with and what to look for in a facility, medical staff, coaching staff, administration, and parent organization. Not only does this book teach you what is happening to your athlete at the present time, but also tells what will or might happen to your athlete in the future. By knowing the terrain an athlete will cover, holes (injuries/illnesses) can be avoided, valleys (decrease in performance) can be dodged, and mountains (success) can be climbed.
