About the Author
Julie Nekola is a technical writer who became interested in the special needs of children when her son was diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome and ADHD. While searching for answers to help him, she was surprised by the number of people who approached her, wanting to tap into any information she and her husband had gathered because they, too, were searching for answers and help with their challenged children.
"Knowledge is power," says Nekola. "The more that parents and teachers understand about caring for a special needs child, the more likely the child will thrive and reach his or her potential."
